home is truly where the hearts is.. together finally as a family. what to wear for family and children portrait sessions

I have been asked on a few chats on the phone what to wear or put on my kids! I am dedicating today’s post to what to wear for the little ones! I went over to gap kids this morning and picked out some cute and coordinating outfits that would be great to wear for portrait sessions. I love layers of clothes because we can always take off layers as we are doing the session. These are examples of what coordinating outfits but not matching with the same shirt and pant look. I love accessories, I think it adds more to portraits!

So I am not asking you all to go to the gap and purchase these outfits but look at them all and see what appeals to you! Shop around at other stores, Crazy 8, Gymboree, Target, the children’s place.. follow these examples of how the color schemes are similar but the outfits are different. Don’t be afraid of logos on children, I think it adds character to the portraits.

One other thing to keep in mind, if you plan on placing these portraits in your home on your walls, think of what you want to see everyday when you walk past the portraits on your wall or on the coffee table.

a beautiful and sweet girl was my gift this morning as we strolled through the park, read stories and took a few pictures! Her family is special to me and the boys. We have the pleasure of spending one day a week together. We cherish the times together and the casual conversations as we watch our children play together! Thank you for sharing Scout and once again Soren Rose with me this morning. I love capturing the moments of the girls as they are!

I had the privilege to be the photographer of this family. They traveled here from Parkston and it was a pleasure to do this for them. Marley Willow turned 1 years old. I was lucky enough to spend this special day with her and all of her family and friends that love her. Little girls are so different than boys, I loved watching marley as she gets her first doll! A memory I will carry forever, she gave it a hug and smiled! Enjoy the images and huge thanks to her parents for allowing me to be apart of Marley’s day!
